Green Tea with Tulsi - A Perfect Cup of Health

Green Tea is one of my favorite tea along with Early Grey and Tulsi Teas. I also like Century Assam Tea and Darjeeling Tea.

This blend of Tulsi leaves and Green Tea leaves is again a favorite of mine. I discovered the Organic India Tulsi Tea products some 3 years ago. They specialize in Tulsi Tea and blends of Tulsi Leaves with Tea, Ginger, Spices etc and other organic products.

For the unacquainted Tulsi is the Holy Basil Plant.  Tulsi is worshipped in India and is also used as medicinal herb in Ayurveda.

Both Tulsi and Green Tea have a lot of health benefits. I can go on and on about the health benefits.

A few benefits:
  • Rich in antioxidants
  • Guards against cough & cold
  • Eliminates toxins

It can aid in weight loss by improving your metabolism, which in turn allows your body to burn fat faster. The vitamin C in green tea helps to treat the common cold.

Today let us learn how to make green tea following this simple recipe.

Cook time - under 5 mins
Serves - 1

Ingredients needed

Century Green tea leaves- 1 tsp (available ready made)
Water - 1 cup
Honey to taste
Fresh lemon juice to taste

Method

  1. Heat 1 cup of water. Do not bring it to boiling point. Switch off before that stage.
  2. Add 1 tsp green tea and brew it for about 2-3 minutes. If you brew it longer, the the tea will taste bitter, so just 2-3 minutes is sufficient.
  3. Strain the tea into a cup.
  4. Add honey and a few drops of lemon juice to taste. Enjoy it piping hot!!
  5. Note - Do not add milk for this tea. Also avoid adding sugar as it is not good for health.
  6. Adding 2-3 fresh mint leaves gives a minty flavor to the tea.
  7. Water temperature should be slightly below boiling point to reduce bitterness.
  8. You can use century green tea bags also.
So what are you waiting for?? Make yourself a cup of hot green tea and enjoy its numerous health benefits.
